The left end of the North Wall is the Brass Mount. This is a artillery platform
on the north-east corner of the outer wall. Heavy brass cannons were deployed
here during the seventeenth century and its military function continues to this day.
The tower in the center of this picture is the Martin Tower. The one on right is the Brick Tower.
Martin Tower was known at the Jewel Tower for 200 years because in 1669 the
Crown Jewels were moved there for display and safe keeping.
